Houjicha is a roasted Japanese green tea with a unique flavor and aroma.

Houjicha is made by roasting green tea leaves, typically bancha or sencha, over high heat. The roasting process imparts a reddish-brown color to the leaves and gives the tea its distinctive toasty and nutty flavor.

Houjicha has a mild and soothing taste with low astringency. The roasting process reduces the tea's natural bitterness and brings out nutty, caramel-like, and earthy notes. It has a comforting, almost coffee-like aroma.

Houjicha's unique roasted flavor makes it a delightful and accessible choice for tea lovers, whether you're new to green tea or a seasoned enthusiast.

How to make Houjicha :

1 Use about 1 to 1.5 teaspoons of Houjicha per 8 ounces (240 ml) of water.

2 Boil water and let it cool slightly to around 194-203°F (90-95°C).

3 Pour the hot water over the Houjicha leaves in a teapot or teacup.

4 Steep for about 30 seconds to 1 minute (adjust to taste).

5 Strain or remove the leaves.

Enjoy the toasty, nutty flavors of Houjicha. It's traditionally served without sweeteners.
